Current calcium intake is one-fourth to one-third of what anthropologists believe humans consumed 10,000 years ago. The appropriate intake ratio of calcium to magnesium is undecided, with some authors in the scientific literature supporting a 2:1 ratio (twice as much calcium as magnesium), while others recommend a 1:1 ratio. Calcium-Magnesium Malate provides a 1:1 ratio.
