Full Description

R-Lipoic Acid contains 100 mg of pure R-lipoic acid. The R-lipoic acid isomer used in this formulation is provided in a stabilized form as potassium-R-lipoate and does not contain any S-lipoic acid.

The R-Lipoic Acid capsules are carefully curated with 100 mg of only the purest form, stabilized potassium-R-lipoate. Enjoy powerful antioxidant support and maximum absorption – free from any S isomer components!

Lipoic acid is an essential coenzyme in helping to process proteins, carbohydrates and fats more effectively. Its robust antioxidant properties make it great for ridding the body of harmful free radicals - all while promoting a healthy blood glucose balance too!

Lipoic acid is an essential coenzyme that plays a major role in the body's metabolism. It works within several multi-enzyme complexes located in mitochondria to convert carbohydrates, proteins and fats into ATP for energy production. Its involvement with pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH), alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase (KGDH) and branched-chain ketoacid dehydrogenase (BCKADH) as part of Krebs cycle ensures it has substantial influence over general energy production while BCKADH specifically helps generate energy from leucine, isoleucine, and valine chains.

Lipoic acid is essential for transporting blood glucose into cells, due to its involvement in the metabolic enzymes: PDH and alpha-KGDH. Additionally, some researchers suggest that lipoic acid may hold a more direct role in facilitating gluose uptake within cell membranes.

Lipoic acid was first proposed as a potential antioxidant in 1959, but it wasn't until recently that its capabilities for free radical quenching and metal chelation were fully explored. Now the importance of this molecule's ability to regenerate antioxidants is well known.

The human body is no stranger to harm; it faces daily threats from free radicals and toxic substances. These molecules, created during normal oxygen metabolism or arising out of environmental contamination, disrupt essential metabolic processes and can cause serious structural damage throughout the cells. In turn, this only serves to exacerbate any existing cellular destruction – ultimately leading to damaging consequences for health.

Lipoic acid stands out among all other biological antioxidants, its characteristic of being able to dissolve both in water and lipids make it especially valuable. Additionally, due to the presence of a sulfur-containing structure, this antioxidant is capable of neutralizing multiple types free radicals which cause harm to cells. Furthermore, by binding with transition metals such as iron or copper ,lipoic acid has been found successful at preventing these metal ions from forming more damaging molecules like those involved in oxidative stress. For these reasons and many others lipoic acid has earned itself the moniker: "the universal antioxidant".

Lipoic acid is a naturally occurring compound found in many products, however not all are equal; studies suggest that only the R-enantiomer acheives optimal utilization by our bodies. Consequently, consider looking for lipoic acid supplements made with pure or enriched R-lipoid forms to get maximum benefit from this important nutrient.
