Calcium Supplement: Ipriflavone

Ipriflavone may be used to inhibit bone resorption, maintain bone density and to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.

It is not used to treat osteoporosis.

It slows down the action of the osteoclasts, possibly allowing the osteoblasts to build up bone mass.

What is Ipriflavone?

If you’re looking for bone health supplements, ipriflavone, a derivative of soy, can help.

Depending on where you live, it may be more or less available.

For example, in the US, it’s an over-the-counter supplement like calcium and vitamin C.

However, in some countries, you do have to have a prescription.

This is a medication that may help improve osteoporosis and Paget disease.

Some athletes use it for bodybuilding, but the efficacy of ipriflavone for that is unknown.

Bodybuilders may be better off taking other supplements. It may be able to help older women.

Whether you’re taking it in the early years after menopause or are using ipriflavone in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis, ipriflavone supplements may be able to help women with low bone density.

To take it, you should consume it with calcium.

If you can’t have dairy products, look for other supplements that provide ideal calcium absorption.

Ipriflavone Health Benefits

What other health benefits does Ipriflavone have?

The research depends on what you are treating it for.

If you want to treat Paget disease, Ipriflavone supplements may help to reduce the pain you are experiencing.

Along with other bone supplements, it may help you to prevent bone loss.

There are other conditions that Ipriflavone could help, but there isn’t much evidence to prove it.

We mentioned bodybuilding, but another example is taking Ipriflavone for the prevention of stroke and food allergies.

Renal osteodystrophy, which is a bone disease that can occur when you have kidney disease, is mixed as well.

With any supplements, you need a double-blind, placebo-controlled study to prove its effectiveness.

Perhaps in the future, we’ll learn more about what benefits it offers.

Ipriflavone Side Effects

With any medication, there are always side effects to consider.

Luckily, Ipriflavone should be safe as long as you talk to your doctor. With that said, there are a few concerns that you should be aware of.

If you take it for over six months, it may cause lymphocytopenia, which is when your blood cell count is reduced.

This could reduce your immunity. If you are already immunocompromised, please talk to a doctor before you take Ipriflavone.

In some instances, the risks may not be worth it. Also, its effectiveness on pregnancy is unknown.

One reason is that Ipriflavone in postmenopausal women tends to be what is studied.

However, these supplements in general are safe, so long as you talk to your doctor about it, and make sure that you are clear to take them.
